Smart technology made simple

Honeywell's reliable and highly-rated app allows you to program your thermostat from your computer, tablet and smartphone, whether you're across the room or around the world. Features a simple setup that guides you through a few basic questions to get your 7-day program up and running and save you money fast. The bright, easy-to-read touchscreen can be color customized to fit your mood, match your paint, or support your favorite team! It offers flexible programming options for business and residential needs. It also learns your heating and cooling cycle times to deliver just the right temperature, as well as improving the air circulation to help regulate the temperature throughout your home. Extreme temperature alerts and filter change reminders are sent to your connected network devices and these are displayed on your Honeywell Wi-Fi smart thermostat, so whether you're home or away, you'll never miss an alert. The highly rated app is backed by Honeywell's reliable network, for dependable access and peace of mind, and it is available for iOS and Android devices. Your indoor humidity is displayed right below the temperature. Advanced locking features and password options provide smart security and convenience. Compatible with heating, cooling and heat pumps.   Good thermostat with lots of features, 2/17/2015 9:37:34 AM , updated 2/25/2015 8:18:17 PM

Installation wasn't too bad. I didn't have a C wire, but I did have extra wires in the existing bundle, so it was trivial to add one (just connect an extra wire to C terminal at the furnace). Beyond that, setup was as simple as language, date/time, heating type, wifi, then log onto the website and supply it information that came with the thermostat. Editing the schedule is much nicer to do from a mobile app than from any thermostat I've used before. Four set points during the week but only two on the weekend is very convenient. A fan circulate option that runs it 35% of the time is good for just moving some air around, and that can vary by schedule, too. The thermostat display can be dimmed variably, and displays current outdoor weather. I don't personally care for the Smart Response Technology, where it learns how long it will take to reach a set point, and starts heating/cooling early. My previous Honeywell thermostat had that, and the house took a long time to reach the 7am set point, to the point where the heat was running by 5am. So before I wake up, it had already almost reached that point, and was uncomfortably warm under all the blankets that are nice overnight when it's cold. The setting can be disabled, so I just set the schedule to be a little bit earlier to get the house on its way, which is all I really care about in the mornings. Overall, I am a fan. I will probably get the $50 cheaper non-color wifi touchscreen version for my upstairs unit (RTH8580WF), since I don't care as much for looking as pretty and having local weather displayed there. Pretty much all the remaining functionality is still there, as far as remote access and scheduling goes, but it loses the indoor humidity sensor and recirculating fan option.
